HOMETOWN REVIEW

FROM NEW HAVEN ADVOCATE

St. Bernadette, Cover Thy Neighbor (Exotic Recordings, saintbernadettemusic.com). This limited edition release is not just a collection in which St. Bernadette covers other local musicians — St. Bernadette covers obscure recordings by other local musicians. It's a cool concept, and a bold one at that. They put the sainthood stamp on each track so that despite the vastly different sources, the final product gels cohesively and has its own vibe, which is kind of like what a party in a haunted barn might sound like. "Play to Win" was written by The Zambonis, but you'd never guess it without focusing on the hockey-centric lyrics. "Outta Here" by Stamford's Shangk is de-punkified, and gets a hard-swingin' slide guitar and Dixieland trumpet solo treatment. The closest listening experience I can think of to compare it to is with Tori Amos' Strange Little Girls, which covered all songs recorded by men (again with an eerie vibe). Even if you don't know the songs being covered (I review local music and I didn't recognize most of them), it's a strong album that could be a gateway for discovering more quality music that's right under our noses. —Mike Sembos

GOIN DOWN THE COUNTRY - SAINT B HEADS TO ASHEVILLE

In our continuing attempt to bolster our Southern rock credentials,
Saint B will make yet another ill-advised and poorly planned
pilgrimage down south to our home away from home in Asheville.
We'll pick up a rhythm section from the city's cornucopia of
fine musicians and play a birthday bash for our friend and label-
mate, Jar-e.

COVER THY NEIGHBOR

Our new album is now complete and this is by far the best
work we've ever done and the reason we feel completely
comfortable saying that is because we did not do it alone. The
12 tracks on "Cover Thy Neighbor" were written by local and
regional songwriters beloved or admired by members of Saint B
and every one is a masterpiece. This will be released in
extremely limited quantity along with our re-interpretation
of the 10 Commandments at local shows through the fall. Stay
tuned for CD release event info and news of our inevitable
excommunication.

Yours in peace, love, and manual labor,

Saint B

WEEKEND WARRIOR TOUR

Ask and ye shall receive, right? And by now, you've told us so
many times what you like: free shows, early shows, weekend
shows. And because we love you and we literally can't exist
without you, we have provided as your official "end of summer"
blitz, a string of all three for your viewing pleasure.

And if that weren't enough, we are presently killing ourselves
to complete the 2nd of three (3), yes, three, albums that we are
planning to release in 2009 to fulfill the mandate of the
Vatican itself that declared 2009 the "Year of Bernadette".

This new album, entitled "Cover Thy Neighbor", is probably our
favorite album we've ever done because it's comprised completely
of compositions written by friends, colleagues, and others who
have personally touched our lives in some way. Come to these
upcoming shows to hear your sneak preview performances of the
amazing songs from The Zambonis, Shangk, J. DiMenna, Jar-e,
Unicorn Wild Ox, Diplodocus, Jargon Society and more.

NEW ALBUM, PRE-VIBES FREE SHOW, AND SAINT BERN W/BURLESQUE - LIKE CHOCOLATE AND PEANUT BUTTER, BABY

We already told you about what we have planned for our next album, so let's get right to the nitty gritty.

Tomorrow night for the CT peoples, we are doing a FREE pre-Vibes show at Two Boots of Bridgeport. What is "pre-Vibes" you might ask? You know, man, that's the time, BEFORE the Vibes. And what are the "Vibes" you might ask? No, it's not the weird feeling you get from people who think they know you from somewhere when they definitely don't! It's a giant festival that takes place in none other than Saint B's hometown of Bridgeport. And this year it features one of our all time favorite bands and big influences, Crosby, Stills, and Nash - so check that out at their website - GoVibes.com and then come on down to see us preview some of our new tracks as well as mix it up with some of our good pals who will also be featured at the Vibes - These United States. All for free at your favorite pizza joint Two Boots of Bridgeport.

let's do it
Wednesday, July 22
Two Boots of Bridgeport

All ages! Bring the kids for some pizza and a dose of rock n roll - it's good for them!

And if that isn't enough excitement for you - try this on for size. Saint B in NYC with some sexy titty! Hey that rhymes! And borders on the offensive - our favorite combo.

Check out our show this Thursday with our all time new favorite band, Thin Veil, at one of Alphabet City's best venues, the Alphabet Lounge.
